Ten years ago, I asked my dermatologist, also dr to many of the models at the agency, what I should do for my skin to ensure it's health longterm. Without hesitation, he said switch from coffee to green tea. I was a coffee drinker. We ordered it as an office for delivery with milk and sugar every morning. I made the switch that day. Ive learned since to really enjoy it with lemon and honey. It took a long time to find one that was not bitter and that was truly healthy. At Dtox, we use a fair trade,organic green tea that tastes delicious. We also offer matcha which is the green tea leaves ground into a powder. Matcha is said to be 10x more medicinal than green tea because you actually ingest the whole leaf instead of just the brew.
Matcha Latte Recipe
1 TBS of matcha
1/4 cup of hot water
1-2 TBS of raw, local honey
8 ounces homemade or Dtox Almond Milk (keep it thick so it will froth; store bought usually won't froth)
Mix matcha, honey and hot water with a handheld frother. Use the Nespresso frother to steam 8 oz of almond milk. Add it to your matcha mix. Enjoy!
Green tea benefits are numerous. Green tea does contain caffeine but much less than coffee. We offer a step down in caffeine from coffee to our pu erh tea, still a bold caffeine. This is actually a green tea that has been fermented and oxidized. Drinks like a coffee. Then, if you want, you can make the switch to the lesser caffeine of matcha, and then to green tea without too much of a withdrawal headache.
