Simple Skin Recovery Program

We all know that the best, cheapest and most helpful thing we can do for our skin is drink water, right?  But we don't do it.  Why?  Commit to it for 30 days.  Take a photo on Day 1 and each week thereafter.  If you are so inclined to do a behind the scenes shot of the cellulite, go for it. 

  1. Drink half your body weight in ounces of water each day.  
  2. Replace your toxic filled body lotion with coconut oil.  Make sure it is unrefined (virgin) and raw.  (unbleached, undeodorized, cold pressed etc)
  3. Dry Brush your skin before bathing or showering for at least 2 minutes each day.  
  4. Do a Dtox Bath once per week.
  5. Massage your skin with coconut oil.    
  6. Document for 30 days.  

As I researched the first post about cellulite, my mother called.  She said, "I hate to tell you but it's just genetic."  I think we fall back on that old myth too much.  

There are always things you can do.  As Estee Lauder suggested, "Every woman is beautiful, but you can't be lazy about it."  

 

 

Cilantro

Toxic Metal Cleansing

Cilantro is most often cited as being effective for toxic metal cleansing and rightfully so, this herb is a powerful, natural cleansing agent. The chemical compounds in cilantro bind to toxic metals and loosen them from the tissue. Many people suffering from mercury exposure report a reduction in the often-cited feeling of disorientation after consuming large and regular amounts of cilantro over an extended period.

Find a bunch of cilantro in a Dtox Green H20 or add it to your juice or water  today.  Find a water pitcher that has an herb or fruit infuser and enjoy. 

Dtox Food

Today, switch to ghee for stir frying vegetables.  It's a delicious lactose- and casein-free cooking fat that is part of cleansing in Ayurvedic traditions.  

Summer Squash

6-8 large yellow summer squash, sliced

1 white or yellow onion, chopped

2 TBS organic ghee

1 TBS extra virgin olive oil

pink salt and pepper to taste

Sautee onion in ghee and a TBS of oil.  Once onions are translucent, add the squash.  Sautee on medium to low heat covered for 30 minutes.  Stir occasionally.  Add another TBS of ghee, salt and pepper to taste.   

 

Quinoa Salad

2 cups quinoa, rinsed thoroughly

1 hothouse cucumber, peeled and diced

20 cherry tomatoes, sliced

1 avocado diced

1 bunch of mint, chopped

1 bunch of Italian parsley, chopped

1 lemon, juiced

1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

1/2 cups extra virgin olive oil

pink salt and pepper to taste

Add 2 cups quinoa to 4 cups water.  Bring to a boil then lower and cover for 12 minutes.  Rinse quinoa with cold water and drain well.  Combine lemon juice, cider vinegar and olive oil and stir.   In a large bowl, combine all  other ingredients and pour liquid mix over it.  Add salt and pepper to taste.
